-- AAY was introduced on 25th Dec 2000 in Rajasthan By A.B Vajpayee During 9 th five year plan.
--Initially started in 6 States HP, MP, Rajasthan, UP, Andhra Pradesh, Chattisgarh and Union territory Dadra and Nagar Haveli.
--AAY is introduced for providing rice and wheat @ ₹3/Kg for rice and ₹2/Kg for wheat for poorest among BPL families.
--AAY was implemented by department of food and civil supplies.
--At time of implementataion allocated quantity is 25 Kg and was increased to 35 Kg from April 1, 2002.
